Do we wag tail too much ?

Ronie : Do you know Indian ambassador Meera Shankar was subjected to the pat down security check at the Jackson-Evers International Airport on Saturday the 4th Dec’10 when she came to board a flight to Washington after attending a function at the Mississippi State University against diplomatic ethics ?

Dad : Yea I know. We’ve summoned their ambassador here in Delhi and lodged our strong protest.

Ronie : What’z strong protest, you are in MEA why can’t we too riposte.

Dad : We can’t; our age old tradition “visitors are like God” doesn’t permit us.

Ronie : You mean we’d continue to wag our tails.

Dad : No its not like that.

Ronie : Then how it is; George Fernandes was strip-searched twice in Dulles airport in the US capital area when he was Defence Minister, once while on an official visit to Washington and another time while en route to Brazil; former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who is exempt from security checks, was treated like an ordinary passenger and frisked by the ground staff of American airliner Continental Airlines at the Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi on April 24, 2009, he was even forced to take off his shoes. Are we insult proof or have we lost our self respect ?

Dad : No, no, you are diverting the subject.

Ronie : The fact is; that the back of our leadership has become shock-proof, kick-proof, jerk-proof, the more it is kicked the more it is harder, isn’t it Dad ?

Dad : Shut up and do your homework we are doing our job.
